The trend downward throughout the year coincided with the team's downward trend throughout the year, so at least the consistency found a way to stay true to the organization it was traded to, right? Right? I'll just be over here, in the corner, talking to myself about the days when it was fun to cover this team.

I kinda wish they would trade into the top 10 and get one of the big three D men this year, but that really isnt going to do much in terms of next year's team. Something tells me that Sweeney will make a push for Yandle and play the "come home and play" card. Same with Vesey.

But in all honesty, who knows what will happen. Maybe we will see another draft day purge.

Haha, I'm just (frank)ing with you guys. Yes, it's still a lot of fun to say the least, but in a slightly more dangerous way. Covering this team has been like covering the Flyers from 2007 to 2012, where the front office was just one big roulette wheel and you never quite knew what was going to happen next.

Almost all of the stuff I've been told by people as potential offseason trades or signings they want to make or have made have all left me going, "But why?" So there's that.

Oh I'm right there with you dude. I think I broke a controller last year when I heard what they traded for Rinaldo. I am hoping that it isnt the same craptacular goodness this off season.

But just in case, Ill get the fire started early.

What about both picks for Shattenkirk? They don't really need more prospects that are 2-3 years away from the nhl level. They have a decent pipeline. They need something now.

I don't think Shattenkirk gets much more than two first round picks. Especially with an expiring contract.

Doubt Sweeney gets that done. I bet you he makes one, maybe two minor trades, drafts both picks, then goes all in in free agency for one of the moderately good D men

Fabbro could be there when you make your 1st selection.

Carlo
Zboril
Fabbro

Build from the back out. D are hard to find and costly to acquire. Sweeney showed he's capable of bold moves. Perhaps the 29 + could be used to move up further or add help now.

Troll, out.

Fabbro, Bean, McAvoy. Those seem to be the big three mid-tier first round D in the first round. I could also see them taking McAvoy because of the boston connection but really any of those three would be a decent pick.

I would add Lauzon to your list there. I know you probably were just listing top 3, but Lauzon will play in the NHL.....one day.

If Boston does select at 29, I kinda hope they would try and move up a tad to select Debrincat or Raddysh. Or possibly even further to select Gauthier (if he is still there). Who knows, maybe Sweeney will trade something no one expects and get someone that wasn't even on the rumor radar. You never know with this management group.

This a thousand times over. I've been saying this (not here) for months. In the age where skill and speed are somewhat outweighing size and strength, he seems like a possible homerun late first round pick. It's risky, but I think totally worth it.

I like the kid. I have had the chance to see him play a few times and he doesnt disappoint. He sort of reminds me of Marchand a little bit. Maybe a little less feisty and a little more sniper.

I haven't had the chance to watch him in person, but have seen him on the box a couple times. I really like the way he plays - he is small as (frank) though. 2 in smaller than Johnson if I'm remembering correctly? That also assumes accurate height measurements, which we all know are bogus anyways

If McLeod is there at 14 - I hope they take him. They are in need of a C with some size and speed. Czarnik, Fitzgerald are both tiny and Donato is a bit slow. Only Forsbaka seems to have a total package and he's barely 6'.

That said - I'll be sad when they start unloading some of our prospects. Who goes? Vatrano? Heinen? DeBrusk? Senyshyn? I hope they can get away with moving someone like Griffith or Donato or Bjork or O'Gara or McIntyre...

move up a tad to select Debrincat

F-That! We've drafted enough tiny-poops. He's a huge If - this team needs to draft size and speed. They have recently stocked up on some solid scoring wingers (Senyshyn - Heinen - Vatrano - Gabrielle - DeBrusk)

HI CAM! You're right, trade up to get a pick in the 18-22 range and draft Gauthier. We need to get "heavier" on the right wing.

In all seriousness though, if we did draft Debrincat, we are getting a good player. The kid can play and I never quits. Thats more than I can say about a few of the bruin's forward core last year.

Saw this on St. Louis SBNation board

To Boston:

Kevin Shattenkirk (D)
Ty Rattie (RW)
St. Louis' first round pick (28th overall) in 2016 NHL Draft

To St. Louis:

Matt Beleskey (LW)
Boston's 1st round pick (14th overall) in 2016 NHL Draft
Boston's 2nd round pick (49th overall, via NY Islanders) in 2016 NHL Draft

Have my doubts that this happens. But could be a starting point.

Yeah for sure. I mean I'm not opposed to the idea, but I'm thinking they will likely want a young D prospect who is going to be an nhl player in return too. Given the market for D men right now, teams are going to have to throw together unbelievable packages to get top D men
